Weng

Member of Modesty’s household

Documented in: Prose · Newspaper strips

Weng belongs to Modesty’s London household and her recurring circle in both prose and newspaper stories. He is part of the domestic world to which she returns between adventures.

He also participates in the action: The Young Mistress places him among the returning cast, alongside Dr. Giles Pennyfeather and John Dall.

Mr Sun gives Weng an active early role in Hong Kong. The later newspaper stories repeatedly bring him back as a trusted member of the household. In the prose, The Night of Morningstar shows him playing bridge with Modesty and the Colliers; his presence is not restricted to domestic tasks.
