The AI images in the webshop are created through a multi-step process that merges the power of artificial intelligence with human creativity and artistic judgement.

Step 1: Conceptualization – I start by determining the subject, style, and overall atmosphere I want the final image to convey.

Step 2: AI Generation – Using Midjourney, an AI tool capable of generating complex and realistic images, I input my desired parameters. The AI then generates a series of images based on these.

Step 3: Selection – From the AI-generated images, I select the ones that best meet the initial concept. These serve as the base for the final artwork.

Step 4: Refinement – The selected images are then imported into Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Here, I apply a range of edits and enhancements. This can include adjusting color settings, enhancing specific features such as eyes or hair, or adding effects to increase the realism or artistic impression.

Step 5: Finalizing – Once satisfied with the edits, I finalize the image. This final artwork is a unique blend of AI power and human artistic interpretation, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece ready for the webshop.

It’s important to note that this process can vary slightly for each piece, depending on the desired outcome. This method ensures that each artwork is unique and carries a personal touch while taking advantage of AI’s ability to generate intricate and realistic base images.

My signature serves multiple purposes on the images.

Firstly, it represents the authenticity of the artwork. It’s a mark of originality, indicating that the image is a product of my creative process and isn’t a generic piece that can be found elsewhere.

Secondly, it helps protect my work from unauthorized use. While it doesn’t completely prevent image theft, it makes it harder for others to pass off my work as their own.

Lastly, it serves as my personal stamp, a way for people to identify my work. Just as painters sign their canvases, I add my signature to the digital images I create. It’s a part of my artistic identity, linking me to the artwork and helping viewers recognize my other works in the future.

It’s important to clarify that using AI in art creation is not stealing, but a new form of artistic expression. AI tools like Midjourney generate images based on the parameters inputted by the user, rather than duplicating existing pieces of art. They essentially function as a new medium or tool, similar to a paintbrush or a camera, through which artists can express their creativity.

While the AI does contribute to the generation of the artwork, it’s the artist who determines the initial concept, selects the most fitting AI-generated images, and makes extensive edits and refinements using tools like Photoshop and Lightroom. The final piece is therefore a unique creation, heavily influenced by the artist’s personal vision and artistic decisions.

In this way, AI serves as an assistant to the artist, not a replacement. It allows for the creation of unique artworks that would not be possible with traditional methods alone. The real creativity and originality of the artwork come from how the artist uses the AI tool, and the subsequent modifications they make to the generated image.

It’s also worth noting that all art builds on what has come before to some extent, and that new technologies have always shaped and expanded the possibilities of artistic expression. Just as photography was initially met with skepticism, AI art is a new frontier in creativity, and it’s exciting to explore its potential.

Currently, I am not accepting requests for custom artwork. The creative process I follow, involving AI generation and extensive refinement, is quite involved and currently better suited to producing the pieces I feel most inspired to create. However, I’m always adding new pieces to my collection, so I encourage you to keep an eye on the Savage Webshop for new additions that may resonate with your tastes. I appreciate your understanding and your interest in my work!

Yes, it is both legal and ethical to sell AI-generated art. Just as it is with traditional art mediums, artists who use AI as a tool in their creative process have the right to sell their works. It’s important to remember that while the AI may assist in the initial image generation, it is the artist’s conceptualization, selection, and substantial modifications and enhancements that create the final unique piece. The artist is not simply selling an AI-generated image, but their own creative vision realized with the assistance of AI. As long as the artwork is original and does not infringe on existing copyrights, it can be legally sold and enjoyed by art enthusiasts.

The skepticism or negativity towards AI art can often stem from misconceptions or a lack of understanding about the process and the role of the artist. Some may perceive that AI-generated art requires less skill or effort compared to traditional methods. However, this overlooks the creative vision, aesthetic judgement, and technical skill involved in guiding the AI, selecting promising outputs, and refining the final piece.

There’s also a broader philosophical question about what constitutes ‘real’ art and who should be considered the ‘artist’. In the case of AI art, the artist uses the AI as a tool, just as a painter uses a brush or a sculptor uses a chisel. The AI is a means to an end, not an end in itself.

It’s also worth noting that throughout history, new artistic techniques and technologies have often been met with resistance before they became widely accepted. From the advent of photography to the use of synthetic pigments in paint, each has had its skeptics before being embraced for the new possibilities they bring to artistic expression.

As more people become familiar with AI art and appreciate the skill and creativity involved, the negativity is likely to decrease. In the meantime, it’s important to continue dialogues about the role of AI in art and to encourage a broader understanding of this emerging field.
